Wrexham Glyndwr University (WGU) is home to an award winning games programme team and one of the UK’s top rated game development courses based on student satisfaction (National Student Survey).
As Grads in Games Awards 2019 finalists, WGU is ranked as one of the top destinations in Europe for games industry employment and indie spin-out support. Many of pour students have gone on to work at some of the world’s most recognisable studios such as Ubisoft, Rockstar, SEGA and Traveller’s Tales.
We are founding members of Games Talent Wales; the first Welsh nationally funded game talent development programme, specialising in the support and creation of sustainable indie game studios.
Since 2016, WGU has helped to establish and support 12 indie game studios in North Wales.
The South Wales Local Hub is based at our Cardiff Campus in the Faculty of Creative Industries, which houses all of USW’s creative courses. Being based in the centre of Wales’ capital city is a perfect location for connecting with a great range of creative organisations and activities.
Our courses are designed to challenge and engage students with creative and practical skills that will enable them to develop new ideas and operate professionally – our hub gives full access to our facilities. The games courses at USW have a long standing pedigree, with notable alumni Mike Bithell, Cat Woolley, Dan Da Rocha, Alice Rendall & Henry Hoffman. Being part of Tranzfuser from start has been fantastic, with public vote winners in 2017 & 2018 as well as overall winners in 2017. Our hub was also nominated for a Best Hub Award at the UKGF Awards in 2018.
UK Games Talent and Finance CIC is a community interest company that has been established to help develop the UK games development sector, particularly at the early stage. We are not for profit and do not have share capital.
We are aiming to boost the UK’s games business and talent ecosystem. We want our funding to create jobs, promote diverse new teams, enhance skills and increase the amount of new games IPs in the UK. In short, we’re working to support the UK’s early-stage games development community.

This includes all writing, design, programming, art, music, marketing and we even publish our own games. As well as making our own titles we have evolved into a Video Games & Interactive Movie Publishing Label collaborating with some of the most talented games developers and film makers across the globe to help bring their original creations to new platforms
Tiny Rebel Games is based in South Wales and was founded by Susan and Lee Cummings.
Lee and I have worked side by side for over 20 years in game development and publishing. The last 13 of those years we have simply been making the games we want to make and having an incredible time doing it. Recently we were awarded a major UK grant for Augmented Reality storytelling which caused the expansion of our studio and has put us in the tremendous position of experimenting with the latest technology alongside amazing partners.
The Games Talent Wales network continues to grow and engage with new studios and organisations.
